Timmermans on Ponta case: EC does not comment, it is a case in the hands of Romania's judiciary

First-Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans said Friday in Bucharest that the situation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta is an issue that has to do with Romania's domestic policy, whereas the European Commission will not express any position on such specific case.

Romania's Monica Macovei to Discuss Anti-Corruption Practices in Bulgaria

MEP Monica Macovei asks for exclusion of Victor Ponta from Bucharest Bar

MEP Monica Macovei on Tuesday requested lawyer Ion Ilie-Iordachescu, the dean of the Bucharest Bar, to expel Prime Minister Victor Ponta from the Bucharest Bar, motivating that his giving up the title of doctor of law means also the annulment of his diploma based on which he was admitted in the bar in the first place.

Macovei calls for passing bill on setting up political parties of at least 3 members

Romanian Euro-parliamentarian Monica Macovei sent President-elect Klaus Iohannis a letter on Wednesday asking him to call on the Parliament to pass by end-December a bill on the liberalisation of the political life, that will allow setting up political parties of minimum three members.
