Monkeypox outbreak

Experts warn that it is only a matter of time before more cases of the new contagious variant of monkeypox (mpox Clade Ib) are identified in Europe. This follows the first imported case reported in Sweden a week ago.

Turkey has no monkeypox virus cases as the latest tests on four suspected patients have emerged negative, the country's health minister has said.

"Tests have been made on four patients suspected to be infected with monkeypox in Istanbul. All are negative," Fahrettin Koca tweeted late on June 4.

Ljubljana – After the first two cases of monkeypox were confirmed in Slovenia about a week ago, the National Institute of Public Health said on Thursday that three infections had been confirmed so far. Epidemiological procedures are under way.

Ljubljana – Only a day after confirming its first case of monkeypox, Slovenia reported a second case of infection with the virus on Wednesday. Like the first case, the infected person had travelled to Spain, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) has announced on its website.
