A recent "Alpha Research" poll conducted between January 15 and 20, 2025, reveals that GERB still holds a strong lead in Bulgaria's political landscape, outpacing the second-place WCC-DB by a wide margin.

The Bulgarian National Assembly decided to revise its agenda, removing a proposal to establish a Temporary Committee to investigate alleged US influence in Bulgaria, including through non-governmental organizations and foundations.

Following consultations with President Rumen Radev, the MECH (Morality, Unity, Justice) party addressed journalists, with Radostin Vassilev declaring that the party will not engage in talks with GERB. He asserted that the "MECH plan" cannot succeed due to the lack of sufficient parliamentary support to counteract Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski.

After ten failed attempts to elect a speaker, Bulgaria's parliament finally reached a decision, appointing Assoc. Prof. Natalia Kiselova from the "BSP - United Left" as Speaker of the National Assembly. Her candidacy received 140 votes in favor, with 93 against.

The Bulgarian National Assembly continued its efforts to elect a Speaker, but for the fourth consecutive time, no candidate managed to secure the necessary support. In today's first voting session, the stalemate persisted.

GERB has made it clear that if Raya Nazaryan is elected Speaker of the National Assembly, she will not be placed on the list for acting Prime Minister, as long as she wishes to remain part of the party. GERB leader Boyko Borissov confirmed this stance during a briefing at the party headquarters, stating that the decision of the party's Executive Committee is firm on this matter.

Bulgaria's Central Election Commission (CEC) released the final results of the October 27 vote, confirming the composition of the 51st National Assembly. Eight political groups will be represented, while "Greatness" (Velichie) narrowly missed the cutoff for parliamentary entry.

Radostin Vassilev from the "Morality, Unity, Honour" (MECH) party expressed optimism about the potential for a transformative approach in the new National Assembly, stating, "There is a unique opportunity to show a different face.
