Open-air movie theaters across Greece opened their doors to the public following the easing of coronavirus-related restrictions. They are only allowed to run at 75 percent capacity, with open bars and no breaks. Only cinema employees are obliged to wear face masks.

Ahead of opening day on Monday, open-air movie theaters in Athens are putting the finishing touches in their venues, tidying up, disinfecting, pruning the plants and arranging the seating so there's a distance of at least 1.5 meters between members of the audience.

Athens is counting the days until the 1st of June and to the opening of its very first drive-in cinema, whose location is still a secret, but whose Facebook page is already becoming quite popular.

Residents of the Central Anatolian province of Nevşehir have pulled up in their cars at a makeshift drive-in cinema to watch the film "Müslüm," which depicts the life of the late famous Turkish singer Müslüm Gürses, as Turkey's cinemas have gone dark amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"The malls will be opened last" That was stated by the Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev in front of reporters.

According to him, the order clearly states that all anti-epidemic measures must be followed, including social distance.

For cinemas, up to 30% of the capacity of the venue is allowed.

Minister of Health Kiril Ananiev has issued an order allowing the holding of cultural events, and visits to museums, galleries, libraries and indoor and outdoor cinemas.

This will take place in compliance with the social distancing requirements and all anti-epidemic measures.

According to government spokesman Stelios Petsas, the legislative act consists of five key articles.

"End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones," the 2003 film by Michael Gramaglia and Jim Fields recounting the legendary band's life and career, will be screened at the Astor cinema in downtown Athens on Monday, January 20. The screening begins at 9 p.m.

These days, you can watch a Broadway musical from a subway train seat. You can get your stage fix at your local movie theater or hear a play while jogging. Theater just isn't what it used to be.
