Storms cause major damage in east, north-east of country
Murska Sobota/Rogatec – Storms that raged in parts of eastern and north-eastern Slovenia on Wednesday afternoon have caused significant damage, especially in the Pomurje region and the small town of Rogatec that were hit by egg-sized hail.

Prekmurje Reunification Day celebrated
Ljubljana/Murska Sobota – Slovenia celebrates Prekmurje Reunification Day on Tuesday, a national holiday marking the day when the country’s eastern-most region Prekmurje was united with the rest of the nation after more than a millennium in 1919. Presidential Palace will open to the public and the president address the visitors after the main ceremony was held last evening.

Debate hears Roma across Europe still subject to discrimination and hatred
Murska Sobota – Marking the 2 August Roma Holocaust Memorial Day, a panel debate held in Murska Sobota on Friday heard that it was important to remember the Nazi genocide against the Roma as a reminder as Roma were still subjected to discrimination and hate crimes across Europe.

Hybrid carriages presented as part of cross-border project
Murska Sobota – A ride with an innovative horse-drawn electric carriage developed as part of a Slovenian-Austrian EU-sponsored project was demonstrated on Tuesday at the Rakičan Mansion near the city of Murska Sobota. The project aims at developing carriage routes in a bid to promote sustainable cross-border tourism.
More than 300 km of bike paths upgraded with EU project
Murska Sobota – A cross-border partnership between Slovenia and Hungary has upgraded a network of 344 kilometres of bike paths as part of Iron Curtain Cycling, a EUR 2.3 million project designed to boost cycling tourism in the border area.
