Intangible cultural heritage at focus of Athens show
The Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens has unveiled the last of a three-part exhibition titled "ReThinking," which focuses on social issues that remain as pertinent today as they were in ancient times. The new section on 'Craftsmanship comes after those on "Identities" and "Conflicts," and seeks to showcase intangible cultural heritage.
Some 7,701 artifacts returned to Türkiye since 2018
While efforts to trace and identify cultural artifacts smuggled abroad through illegal excavations and illegal means continue, a total of 7,701 cultural assets have been returned to the country since 2018, in which 2,956 of them returned in 2023.
Researchers to examine source of artifacts smuggled from Türkiye
With a project initiated by state museums in Berlin for the return of smuggled historical artifacts, a team of Turkish and German historians will examine the source of the objects found at the archaeological sites in Zincirlihöyük, Didim and Samarra.

Art Contest for Kids | Athens | To May 30
The Museum of Cycladic Art (cycladic.gr) is holding its 10th annual art competition for children aged 4-15, with the theme this year being "The Human at the Forefront." The deadline for submissions of pieces addressing the role of humans through their journey across cultures, different eras, space and time, is May 30, with the entries then being presented in a big show by the museum in Septembe

Free admission to monuments and sites Tuesday
Admission to archaeological sites and historical monuments across the country will be free of charge on Tuesday, International Day for Monuments and Sites, the Culture Ministry has announced.
The day, also known as World Heritage Day, was established in 1983 by UNESCO and the International Council on Monuments and Sites.

Cultural mobilization starts for Hatay
Preparations are underway as Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry is preparing to establish a coordination center, where historical heritage preservation activities will be carried out. The ministry asked universities to send any information, document, research, thesis, picture, etc. about the quake-hit city of Hatay in an attempt to reconstruct the life and cultural texture there again.
