Two people dead from West Nile virus
Eight new cases of West Nile virus and two patient fatalities were reported in Greece over the last week, highlighting the dangers of mosquito bites.
This summer, a total of 11 cases have been reported to the National Public Health Organization, 10 of which were more serious due to central nervous system symptoms.

Beaches cluttered with sun beds, umbrellas anger Paros residents

3.8-magnitude quake shakes Imathia
A light earthquake was recorded on Friday morning east of the northern Greek town of Naousa, in Imathia, according to a reading of the Seismological Station of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The epicentre of the 3.8-magnitude tremor recorded at 9.33 a.m. was eight kilometres east of the town of Naousa.

Teen injured in hit-and-run in northern Greece
A 12-year-old boy was injured when his bicycle was hit by a passing car in the city of Naousa, central Macedonia.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, according to state-run news agency ANA-MPA. The boy was transferred to the Ippokratio Hospital in Thessaloniki for treatment, although it was not clear what his injuries were.
Local police is investigating the incident.

'Missile' found in Thessaloniki turns out to be car part
Authorities in Thessaloniki said on Wednesday that an object found on Tuesday that was suspected of being a World War II-era missile was in fact a discarded car engine part.
It was found by workers during restoration work on a listed building.

Spend time at the Old Port of Naoussa on Paros (PHOTOS)
Paros is one of those gorgeous Greek islands that seems to be a bit off the radar. The Christos Lanaras Industrial Heritage Documentation Center in Naoussa, northern Greece, presents a solo exhibition of works by self-taught artist Costas Vainanidis. "Window Exposure to Light" opens on Wednesday, October 26, and runs through Sunday, October 30. The display will be open daily to visitors from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m.

A guide to the Sept. 27 supermoon in Greece on World Tourism Day (super pics)
World Tourism Day on Sept 27 coincides with the rare supermoon total lunar eclipse, a phenomenon that hasn’t happened since 1982. Over the past 115 years there have been only five of them and the next one is due in 2018.
The moon will be just 387,472 km meaning that it will be 13% larger than normal, making it a sight worth seeing.
