Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has convened an emergency security council meeting at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport upon his arrival from Kazan, Russia, where he departed before completing his schedule at the BRICS Summit.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has called on the United Nations to stop arms sales to Israel, revealing that Türkiye has initiated a diplomatic effort to that end.

This afternoon, three armed individuals, including a woman, launched a surprise attack on the entrance of Türkiye’s Aerospace Industry Academy. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday discussed bilateral ties in the Russian city of Kazan, the site of a summit of the BRICS group of countries.

During the meeting, Erdoğan and Maduro spoke about bilateral relations and regional and global issues, Türkiye's Communications Directorate said in a statement.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the deadly terrorist attack on the facilities of the aerospace and defense company TUSAŞ in Ankara on Oct. 23 during the BRICS meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia's Kazan province.

"We have four martyrs and 14 wounded. I condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish mercy on our martyrs," Erdoğan said.

The two-day summit takes place as the international community is expressing growing concerns over the continued regional conflicts in the Middle East and Eurasia.

The chief spokesperson for the Turkish president's office on Sunday denied claims by the main opposition CHP party suggesting that Turkey is prepared to take back asylum seekers from Germany in exchange for Berlin approving Ankara's request for Eurofighter jets.
