Turkey's short-term external debt stock at $125.3 bln in July
Turkey's short-term external debt stock stood at $125.3 billion at the end July, according to data released on Sept. 17.
The debt that must be paid in a year or less climbed 9.7% in July compared to the end of 2020, according to the Turkish Central Bank.
A total of 40.7% of the debt stock is in U.S. dollars, 25.8% in euros, 13.3% Turkish liras, and 20.2% in other currencies.
Central government gross debt stock at $241 bln in July
The Turkish central government's gross debt stock totaled 2 trillion Turkish liras (around $241 billion) as of the end of July, according to official figures on Aug. 20.

The Treasury and Finance Ministry said the figure slipped 18% from the same period last year.
Private sector foreign debt down in March
Outstanding short- and long-term debts of Turkey's private sector declined in March, the Turkish Central Bank said on May 17.
The total foreign debt of private sector saw $170.2 billion as of March, falling by $3.5 billion.

The figure was down 3.2% from the same period in the previous year, according to data from the Treasury and Finance Ministry on Jan. 20.

Turkey's central government's gross debt stock became 1.33 trillion Turkish liras (around $223 billion) as of end-2019, according to Treasury and Finance Ministry on Jan. 20.
The figure was up 24.3 percent year-on-year, the ministry data showed.
