The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is running an information campaign urging people to carry their health insurance cards while traveling during the summer. This is to ensure they receive adequate and timely medical care if needed.

Hospital workers insist on a meeting with the management of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) after they said they did not know how much it costs to treat patients with COVID-19 infection. Earlier today, NHIF Governor Prof. Dr. Petko Salchev said that the management of the NHIF has no information on how much it costs to treat a patient with COVID infection.

The government has adopted a decree closing the Fund for the treatment of children, the Government Information Service said.

The decision was made in connection with the changes to the Health Act. According to them, after March 31, the activities performed by the Fund are transferred to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) ended 2018 with a surplus of BGN 14 million, the shorthand from the first meeting of the Supervisory Board reveals. The reason is that in the last days of the year more than planned health insurance has been collected and so 14 million leva have been left unused, which are returned back to the state budget, reports Mediapool.
