Country to face no gas supply problems in winter: Minister

Türkiye will not have any gas supply problems this winter as the country has enough gas at its storage facilities, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.

"The Silivri underground storage facility is 100 percent full. We are entering the winter well prepared," the minister said after visiting the facility.

Bulgaria signs deal to use Türkiye's gas terminals

Bulgaria on Jan. 3 gained access to Türkiye's terminals and gas transmission network under a long-term deal that will help the country replace supplies once provided by Russia.

Bulgaria's state gas company Bulgargaz and the Turkish gas transmission company Botas signed a 13-year deal that grants the Balkan neighbor access to Türkiye's terminals for liquefied natural gas.

Turkmenistan halts gas flow to Iran in arrears row

Turkmenistan halted gas supplies to Iran on Jan. 1 amid tensions between the two countries over arrears, the Iranian National Gas Company was quoted by oil ministry news agency Shana as saying.

"The gas company of Turkmenistan has cut gas exports to Iran, contrary to the agreement reached, by demanding immediate payment of arrears," Shana cited an official statement as saying.

Turkey wins gas price dispute against Iran in arbitration court, taking 10-15 percent discount

The International Court of Arbitration has ruled against Iran in its gas dispute with Turkey, saying that Iran must offer 10-15 percent of discount on gas sold to Turkey. 

Based on the ruling, Turkey had asked 35.5 percent of discount on Iranian gas, Shana news agency quoted the managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company, Hamid-Reza Araqi, as saying on Feb. 2.
