The taste that always lingers after a disaster is bitter and sour. It's hard to admit that once again, something went wrong and that mistakes and omissions were made. This pattern has repeated itself time and again - in Ilia, Mount Parnitha, Mati, Evia and the Dadia Forest with the wildfires, and in Thessaly with the floods.

Song on Earth | Lake Prespa | August 24-25
Renowned conductor Yorgos Ziavras and distinguished director Sophia Paschou present a unique musical performance at the scenic Basilica of Agios Achillios in northern Greece's Mikri Prespa lake. "Song on Earth" is a spatial performance based on Austro-Bohemian composer Gustav Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde" and is part of the Ministry of Culture's "All of Greece, One Culture" festival.

PM Mitsotakis warns of difficult wildfire season ahead

Taverna cook arrested for starting fire near Athens
A taverna cook has been arrested for causing a wildfire that broke out Thursday in low vegetation near Varybobi, at the foot of Mount Parnitha in northern Athens.
Officers from the Fire Service's Arson Crimes Unit apprehended the man, who was fined 3,300 euros.
He will appear before the Prosecutor of Misdemeanors in Athens on Friday morning.
Five arrested for violent attack on Mount Parnitha volunteers
Police arrested five men on Thursday morning in connection with last month's violent attack on two volunteers on Mount Parnitha, north of Athens.
The men, aged 22 and 23, face charges that include attempted murder and forming a gang.
