The Prosecutor's Office Investigates NEC's Consultancy And Legal Services Contracts

The Prosecutor's Office is checking contracts that have been concluded by the National Electricity Company (NEC) with consultancy and legal service firms.

This was announced for FOCUS News Agency by Spokesperson for Prosecutor-General Rumyana Arnaudova.

Bulgaria, Russia Agree to Cut Belene Debt Bill

A debt settlement deal was signed by Bulgaria's state-owned National Electric Company, or NEC, and the Russian nuclear producer Atomstroyexport on Wednesday, the Bulgarian Energy Ministry announced.

An arbitration court in Geneva ordered the NEC to pay the Russian firm 601,617,133 euros for the production of two nuclear reactors for the cancelled Belene power plant.

Bulgarian Energy Commission Chairman: No Problems Expected Concerning EC Approval of NEC Loan

Bulgaria is preparing to grant an interest-free loan to NEC. NEC will use it to pay Atomstroyexport for the equipment ordered for the Belene plant.

Bulgaria MPs Back Repaying Russian Nuclear Firm

The law proposed by the Bulgarian government on Tuesday, was adopted on a first reading with the support of 132 out of 140 lawmakers on Wednesday.

It allows the state electric company NEC to receive state aid in the form of an interest free loan and to use it to pay off its debts to Russia's state nuclear company Atomstroyexport.

Current Deficit at Bulgaria's National Electric Company at BGN 600 M

The deficit at Bulgaria's National Electric Company (NEK) stands at BGN 3.3 B, while the current deficit for 2014 amounts to BGN 600 M, according to Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.

Petkova, as cited by Standard daily, made clear that the authorities were to collect more information about the company and its experience in the sphere of nuclear energy in particular.
