Writer Boris Pahor laid to rest in Trieste
Trieste – Several hundred people gathered at St Ana’s Cemetery in Trieste on Tuesday to lay to rest Boris Pahor, one of the greatest Slovenian writers. Pahor was paid respects by several Slovenian politicians and other public figures, who highlighted the high moral and ethical standards of the writer and witness to all three totalitarianisms.

Late author Pahor remembered at commemoration in native Trieste
Trieste – A commemoration was held on Wednesday evening at the National Hall in Trieste, Italy, to pay respects to late Slovenian author Boris Pahor, who died aged 108 in his native Trieste on Monday. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday at St Ana Cemetery in Trieste.
Tomb structures in Gölyazı open to tourism
The necropolis (cemetery) of the ancient city of Apollonia ad Rhyndacum will be opened to tourism in the northwestern province of Bursa's Nilüfer district as "Little Venice."
Restoration works have been carried out in the area following the necropolis excavation, which was completed under the scientific consultancy of Bursa Uludağ University (BUÜ).

Acclaimed Slovenian writer Boris Pahor celebrates 108th birthday
Ljubljana – Boris Pahor, the internationally famous Slovenian writer from Trieste, celebrates his 108th birthday on Thursday. Throughout his life, Pahor has warned against totalitarian regimes, also in his novel Necropolis, where he describes his experiences in Nazi concentration camps. He has also received numerous honours and awards.
Construction of Necropolis Museum nears end
With the construction of the Necropolis Museum nearing the end, the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality will present 2,300 years of history of the Mediterranean region to local and foreign visitors.

Roman-era sarcophagi awaited in ‘City of the Dead’
The area from which two Roman-era sarcophagi were removed in 2015 and 2016 in the northwestern province of Bursa’s İznik district, known as the “city of the dead” (necropolis), is monitored by police and gendarmerie teams 24/7.

Ancient symbolic graves unearthed in Uşak
Road construction work in the western province of Uşak has unearthed a 2,000 year-old necropolis (graveyard) from the Roman era.
Because there were no skeletons in any of the 33 graves in the necropolis, officials believe the local people built symbolic graves for their relatives who had lost their lives during war.

Roman-era tombs in İznik
Three more tombs have been unearthed in an olive grove in the northwestern province of Bursa's İznik district. One tomb was previously found last November in the same field, which is believed to be a necropolis from the late Roman era.
