Missing toddler Ben Needham 'likely killed in accident'

A UK police team probing the more than two-decade old disappearance of a British toddler on the Greek island of Kos said Monday the boy was likely killed in an accident.

However, investigators have not found the body of Ben Needham - who was 21 months old when he vanished near a farmhouse where his family was staying in July 1991 - and they said the investigation is continuing.

British police on Monday wrapped up a renewed investigation into the disappearance of toddler Ben Needham on the island of Kos in 1991, saying the boy probably died in an accident involving a digging machine.

Detective Inspector John Cousins, from South Yorkshire Police, told reporters that it was his "professional belief" that the boy died in a digger accident.

Police searching for missing toddler Ben Needham have found evidence of “decomposition” at the Kos dig site. A detective inspector revealed that they would be closely examining an area in the olive grove behind the farmhouse where Ben disappeared. It comes as a result of soil samples being sent to the UK, since they are still being examined back at a laboratory in Aberdeen.

One of the leads concern the claim by a man who believes that it could be him and who is willing to undergo DNA tests.
