Şanlıurfa to host World Neolithic Congress
The southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, famous for its historic sites Göbeklitepe and Karahantepe — two of the world's oldest Neolithic settlements — will host Türkiye's inaugural World Neolithic Congress from Nov. 4 to 8.
The congress is expected to draw nearly 1,000 academics from 64 countries and 487 institutions.

Digs shed light on Neolithic burial traditions
A human skull found during excavations in southeastern Türkiye has provided vital new information about mysterious burial traditions near the dawn of human civilization.
Under a Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry project, excavations began in 2021 in Sefertepe, an ancient settlement in Şanlıurfa, under the supervision of archaeologist Emre Güldoğan.

Çatalhöyük source of inspiration for artists
The exhibition "The Trace of Memory: The Neolithic City of Çatalhöyük" is on display at the Atatürk Culture Center (AKM) Gallery.
Curated by Siret Uyanık, the exhibition is jointly organized by the Culture and Tourism Ministry and the Konya Metropolitan Municipality. The project is being coordinated by Uyanık and Çatalhöyük Excavation Director Associate Professor Ali Umut Türkcan.

Archaeologists working a vast Neolithic site in northeast France have uncovered what they say is the last piece of the puzzle - traces of a permanent settlement.
The settlement was unearthed at the vast Neolithic site of Marais de Saint-Gond, giving rare insights into its social organization 150 years after the first flints were discovered.
