Koukaki arrests were conducted by the book, minister says
Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis on Wednesday responded to a letter from jurist and academic Nikos Alivizatos, who heads a committee established by the minister to monitor police behavior, regarding allegations of police brutality during a crackdown on anarchist squats in the downtown Athens district of Koukaki earlier in the day.

Former conservative MP and minister Petros Alivizatos dies aged 76
Former conservative MP and deputy tourism minister Petros Alivizatos has died at the age of 76.
Born in Athens in 1942, Alivizatos was first elected lawmaker with New Democracy on the Ionian island of Cephalonia in 2004. Between 2011-2012, he served as deputy minister for tourism in the interim coalition government led by ex banker Lucas Papademos.
