Lanišek third overall at Four Hills Tournament
Slovenia's best ski jumper this season, Anže Lanišek finished third in the 71st Four Hills Tournament to become only the fourth Slovenian to podium the prestigious German-Austrian Ski Jumping Week.

Ski jumper Zajc 6th on large hill at Beijing Olympics
Beijing – Slovenian ski jumper Timi Zajc finished 6th in the men’s individual event on the large hill at the Winter Olympics in Beijing on Saturday, as Norway’s Marius Lindvik won the gold medal. Three other Slovenians finished in the top 12 jumpers, setting up the stage for Monday’s team event in which Slovenia will be going for a medal.
The Program of the Bulgarian Athletes for the Games in Beijing
The Beijing Winter Olympics have officially opened, and Bulgarian participation begins on Saturday.
Nearly 3,000 athletes will take part in the games. The Bulgarian team is left without one of its competitors and will have 15 athletes. Ski runner Simeon Deyanov has not recovered from the coronavirus and will not travel to Beijing.
Cross-country skier Lampič third in World Cup in Davos
Davos – Slovenian cross-country skier Anamarija Lampič finished third in the women’s World Cup freestyle sprint event is Davos, Switzerland on Saturday to earn her first podium finish in the current season, as Maja Dahlqvist of Sweden scored her third win.
Slovenian ski jumping team third in Wisla
Wisla – The Slovenian ski jumping team featuring Cene Prevc, Peter Prevc, Timi Zajc and Anže Lanišek finished third in the first World Cup team event in Wisla, Poland on Saturday. The victory went to Austrians, while the German team was second.

Tande stable, waking up after Planica fall
Planica – Norwegian ski jumper Daniel Andre Tande is still in an intensive care unit at Ljubljana’s UKC hospital after suffering a heavy fall in Thursday’s trial round at the World Cup meet in Planica. “His condition is stable and is in the phase of waking up,” anaesthetist Špela Štupnik Pirtovšek, a member of the medical team in Planica, said on Sunday.

Ski jumper Križnar finishes on podium but loses overall lead
Tchaikovsky – Slovenian ski jumper Nika Križnar finished third in the women’s World Cup event in Russia’s Chaykovsky on Friday, but this was not enough for her to retain the overall lead in the competition. One event to go in the season, Križnar is trailing Sara Takanashi of Japan.
Križnar wins bronze in women’s large hill at Nordic worlds
Oberstdorf – Slovenia’s Nika Križnar won the bronze medal in the women’s large hill competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Germany’s Oberstdorf on Wednesday in what is the fourth medal for Slovenian ski jumpers there.
CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: Lampič and Urevc third in team event in Oberstdorf
Oberstdorf – Cross-country skiers Anamarija Lampič and Eva Urevc won bronze in the women’s team event at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, Germany, on Sunday. The pair fell short of gold by 3.46 seconds. Sweden’s Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling won the race.
Second place went to Switzerland’s Nadine Fähndrich and Laurien van der Graaff.
Lanišek wins bronze at Nordic World Ski Championships
Oberstdorf – Slovenia’s ski jumper Anže Lanišek won the bronze medal on the normal hill at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf on Saturday. Gold went to Polish Piotr Zyila, while German Karl Geiger was second.
Touching down at 102.5 metres in the first round, Lanišek was in place two before the second round, lagging three points behind Zyla in first place.
