A court in Novi Sad has found 59-year-old Mihalj Skivijan guilty of murder and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

Skivijan killed 30-year-old Merima Redzepova, with whom he was in a relationship, by striking her on the head with a hammer at least 15 times.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic believes that "no candidate can threaten his reelection" if he decides to run in the presidential elections next year.
