UN rejects Iran arms embargo extension, crisis looms

The United Nations Security Council overwhelmingly rejected a U.S. resolution to extend an Iranian arms embargo on Aug. 14, in a move with huge repercussions for the Iran nuclear deal.

Only two of the Council's 15 members voted in favor, highlighting the division between Washington and its European allies since President Donald Trump withdrew from the nuclear accord in May 2018.

"The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon," where we will analyze the consequences of the decision announced by US President Donald Trump, saying that Russia did not respect that agreement and that the United States will not respect it due to its withdrawal.
The US withdrawal should take effect in six months.

Tehran Won't Withdraw from the 2015 Nuclear Deal?

Iran will not withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal, Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said, quoted by news agencies. According to him, the EU has no legal basis to trigger the dispute mechanism in Iran's nuclear deal .

Mousavi even accused the conserned European countries that they did not respect their part of the deal. He said the EU's claims were unfounded.
