Nuclear power in Russia

The power unit of the Russian corporation Rosatom - JSC Rusatom Service and Kozloduy NPP have signed a contract for the modernization of the neutron flux control equipment (ACNP) for the Fifth and Sixth units of Kozloduy NPP after the open tender back in september 2019.

A one-year milestone in the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant (NPP) is indicative of the successful cooperation between the partner countries to the plant; Russia and Turkey, the plant's project company, Akkuyu Nuclear announced on April 5.         

The Turkish Atomic Energy Authority (TAEK) granted the country's first nuclear power plant Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant's (NPP) project company Akkuyu Nuclear, a "limited works permit" for the construction of the plant's second unit, Rosatom announced on Dec. 14.

Akkuyu nuclear power plant’s (NPP) construction will start at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year at the latest, said Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak in an energy event in the southern city of Antalya on Wednesday.

Unit 6 of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Bulgaria has been switched on again on Thursday with new Russian fuel, a nuclear watchdog official has said.

There was only one good aspect of the diplomatic crisis between Russia and Turkey that erupted after the downing of a Russian war plane by Turkish jets on the Syrian border nearly a year ago: The possible suspension of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project. 

The US-Russia rivalry over setting up Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in India has intensified in recent times.

A total of $3 billion has been spent on the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant and work will continue although the required licenses have not been issued yet, said the company chief, adding that some delays are normal in nuclear power plant projects. 

The revenues of Bulgaria's Kozloduy nuclear power plant will increase by BGN 56 M after units 5 and 6 see their capacity increased by 4% to 104%, according to calculations of Nikita Hristov, senior nuclear energy expert at Risk Engineering.

Turkey's Akkuyu nuclear power plant has completed the selection process of 80 Turkish students to study nuclear engineering in Russia from among 6,300 candidates.
