Convent-made delicacies help monks and nuns pay the bills
It's the fortnight before Christmas and all through the world's Catholic convents, nuns and monks are extra busy preparing the traditional delicacies they sell to a loyal fan base even in rapidly secularizing countries.
Media urged to join protest on World Press Freedom Day
NUNS, UNS and the Nezavisnost media branch trade union are urging media to stop broadcasting Wednesday within the "Five minutes of thunderous silence" campaign.
In separate statements, the journalist associations said the traditional campaign is a warning to the public about the never-worst position of the journalistic profession in Serbia.
"Thunderous silence" urged on World Press Freedom Day
The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia has called on journalists and media to "turn off the sound and black out the screens" at 11:55 CET Tuesday.
They should do this as part of a symbolic international campaign dubbed, "Five Minutes of Thunderous Silence," NUNS said on Monday.

A former nun claimed that she was forced to engage in self-flagellation and write her vows in her own blood while living in a convent in Italy.
In an interview with an Italian newspaper the woman claims that the nuns of Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate were forced to take part in punishing rituals, as Daily Mail reports.
Persecuted Christians of the Middle East
In June 2014, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) occupied the Iraqi city of Mosul, which was the home to around 3,000 Christians. Soon, these Christians discovered that the Arabic letter "Nun" (?) had been sprayed on their doors to mark them as "Nasara" - the Qur'anic term for Christians. A few days later, they also learnt the implications.

Row over TV license fee: PM "overstepped powers"
NUNS President Vukasin Obradovic has said that the issue public (broadcasting) services' license fees is not the responsibility of the government.
The prime minister took on a part of the powers that do not belong to him, the head of the Independent Association Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) said on Friday.

Archaeologists in Oxford, discovered a series of 92 skeletons in digs. The peculiar fact, however, is that among them is a team of “Sex-crazed nuns”.
