Warnings Issued Across Bulgaria over Possible Torrential Rains, Snowstorms

Code orange has been issued for Bulgaria's Smolyan municipality on Friday on account of the heavy rains and expected thunderstorms.

The other twenty seven areas of the country have been warned with a yellow code due to the heavy rains and possible snow storms.

Extreme Weather Warnings Issued For Tuesday

Codes orange and yellow for wind, heavy rain, ice and snow on the entire territory of Bulgaria are issued for Tuesday.

The code orange for precipitation is valid for the regions of Smolyan, Kurdzhali, Haskovo and Yambol.

Code yellow for heavy rains is issued for the regions of Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora and Sliven.

Warning Siren System To Be Tested On Oct. 13

Bulgaria's warning siren system will be tested on October 13, informs the Interior Ministry press centre.

The sirens will be tested at noon in Burgas, Varna, Kurdzhali, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Smolyan, Sofia, Vratsa and the residential areas within the 30-km zone around the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.

4 Bulgarian Districts under Code Orange Alert due to Heavy Rains

Code orange weather alert has been issued for four districts in northwestern Bulgaria for September 15 due to torrential rains.

The districts under code orange are Vidin, Montana, Vratsa and Sofia district, according to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Code Orange For Torrential Rains Declared

Code orange for torrential rains is declared for 8 regions in Bulgaria, reports the BNT public broadcaster. 

In the regions of Burgas, Yambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Kurdzhali, Plovdiv and Pazardzhik the rains are expected to be most intense.

In the afternoon the rains would most likely abate, but the situation would remain unstable.

Code Yellow Warning For Torrential Rains Issued For Friday

Code yellow warning for torrential rains is issued for Friday in 9 regions in Bulgaria, said the National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology.

The warning is for the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Sofia-Region, Lovech, Gabrovo, Pazadzhik, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora. 

It will also rain, but less intensively, in the western and central parts of the country.

Code Yellow Warning For Extreme Heat Issued

Bulgaria's meteorologists issued a code yellow warning for dangerously hot weather in 18 regions on Friday. 

In the Blagoevgrad, Pazadrzhik, Smolyan, Plovdiv, Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Sliven, Yambol, Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Silistra, Razgrad, Targovishte, Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo regions temperatures are expected to reach up to 38°C. 

Code Yellow Issued for Northern, Eastern Bulgaria Over Strong Winds

Code Yellow for strong winds has been issued for fifteen regions in northern and eastern Bulgaria, said Bulgaria's Meteorology and Hydrology Institute, Thursday.

The warning concerns the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Razgrad, Shumen, Targovishte, Silistra, Dobrich, Varna and Sliven.

Code Yellow for Dangerous Weather Declared in Western Bulgaria

Code Yellow for thunderstorms and torrential rains is announced for nine regions in western Bulgaria, said Bulgaria's Meteorology and Hydrology Institute.

In the late afternoon of May 29 are expected heavy rains and high winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms are also forecast.

The bad weather is expected to continue through Friday and Saturday.
