Unbearable Heat Continues in Bulgaria: High Temperature Alerts for Today

Bulgaria is set to experience another day of extreme heat, with yellow and orange weather warnings issued for high temperatures. The alert covers the districts of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, and Blagoevgrad. Many other regions are also under a yellow heat warning, though Eastern Bulgaria is not included in the alert.

The south-eastern Bulgarian region is among the 23 regions in the EU with the smallest share of young people who have completed secondary education, according to Eurostat data for 2021.

There, less than three-quarters of the 20- to 24-year-old population have a high school diploma.

Weather in Bulgaria: Code Yellow for Freezing Temperatures in Nine Regions

Code yellow for low temperatures is in force for 9 districts in southwestern and southern Bulgaria - Sofia, Sofia - region, Kyustendil, Pernik, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Haskovo, Smolyan and Kardzhali. Minimum temperatures in these regions reach minus 15 degrees.

For Tuesday, February 16, a yellow code for cold is declared for the whole of Bulgaria.
