The team from the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS) of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) arrived in Thessaloniki ahead of the city's international trade fair (TIF) with a wealth of optimistic news about the progress of space research and science in Greece.

Gazing into the past and future at historic observatories
At the top of Mount Hamilton, near San Jose, California, Lick Observatory looks out over the dense sprawl of the San Francisco Bay Area. On a clear day from the 4,200-foot summit, you can see San Francisco to the north, as well as the entrance to Yosemite Valley, 120 miles east, as the crow flies. At night you can see even farther — millions of light-years into space.
Stargazers gather at Saklıkent Observatory

Turkish astronomers urge move against light pollution
An association of Turkish astronomers has again raised the issue of light pollution across the country, urging a new legislation to ban or limit lightings around observatories.
Astronomical Observatory in the Borisova Garden Will be Restored
The repair and restoration of the buildings of the Astronomical Observatory in the Borisova garden should begin within a month. BGN 100 000 are provided from Sofia University - 50 000 from a company. Prof. Evgeni Ovcharov, head of the Astronomy Department at the Observatory, said, quoted by BGNES.
Hot days increasing, nights getting warmer, study shows
The number of hot days in Greece is rising while nights are getting warmer with each passing decade, according to a study by the National Observatory of Athens, published in the International Journal of Climatology.
The study says that the impact of these changes is having an impact on the health and well-being of the country's residents.
