Operation octopus: Sea shepherds battle illegal fishing

Aquaworld Aquarium | Crete | To October 31
The Aquaworld Aquarium on Crete features displays local sealife and reptiles from around the world, including snakes, turtles and octopuses. Visitors are not only allowed to interact with the animals, but are encouraged to pet and hold them. Located in the port of Hersonissos on the northeastern coast of the island, the aquarium is open every day through October 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The female octopus meticulously takes care of her eggs until they hatch, not eating the entire time. She blows current across the eggs to keep them clean and protects them from predators. They incubate from two to 10 months depending on the species and water temperature and are on their own once they hatch, giving them a 1% survival rate.
