Mytilineos: Cooperation with CIP for the development of offshore wind farms in Greece

Through the Electricity and Gas sector - Protergia, Mytilineos signed an agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructural Partners (CIP), based in Denmark, on behalf of the investment scheme "CI New Markets Fund I" for joint cooperation (CIP 60% / MYTILINEOS 40%) for the development of offshore wind farms in marine areas of Greece.

Turkey ranks as 5th biggest wind investor in Europe

Turkey has been ranked as the fifth-biggest wind power investor in Europe in 2020 with €1.6 billion, according to WindEurope's report on April 13.

The Financing and Investment Trends in the European Wind Industry in 2020 report said that investments in offshore wind farms hit a record €26.3 billion, while investments in new onshore wind farms reached €16.5 billion.

Turkey in Europe's top 5 wind turbine equipment makers

Turkey ranks among the top five countries in Europe with its large-scale production plants for wind turbine equipment, the country's industry and technology minister said on Nov. 25.

Turkey hopes to make its domestic industry more competitive in producing both onshore and offshore wind turbine equipment, Mustafa Varank said at a virtual session of the Turkish Wind Energy Congress.

Norwegian firm eyes offshore wind parks

Norway's energy giant Equinor sees good potential for building floating offshore wind parks in Greece as long as the country adopts a regulatory framework for the technology.
Equinor, one of the world's largest oil and gas producers, operates Hywind park in Scotland, the world's first floating offshore wind park, and is struggling to find new renewables projects to invest in.

Northern Europe is Increasingly Relying on Wind Power

New energy trends are gaining strength in Europe, including rising investments in wind power. Belgium, for example, plans to double its offshore wind farms, while Denmark plans to build enough turbines to feed its seven largest cities. 

A few days ago, the Belgian government announced it would allocate another large area near the French waters to build new wind farms after 2020.

Turkey's wind power capacity increases over 3,000 MW in 2014

Turkey?s wind power capacity increased to over 3,000 megawatts (MW) with the installation of new facilities totaling 804 MW in 2014, according to wind power body the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).

Turkey?s wind power capacity rose to 3,763 MW in 2014, according to the GWEC?s Global Report, which also showed the growth of the wind power industry around the world.
