Hungarian European Commissioner Nominee Faces Further Scrutiny After Unfavorable Hearing

Oliver Varhelyi, the Hungarian nominee for European Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare, has been sent back for a second round of questioning after MEPs expressed dissatisfaction with his responses. BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic received EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi on Wednesday to discuss topics including reforms and alignment of national regulations with European laws.

Brnabic said that, in her new post, she would continue to advocate strengthening institutions and democratic principles in Serbia, an official statement said.
