New rectors appointed to six universities
A decree has appointed new rectors to six universities, according to a decision published in the country's Official Gazette on Sept. 21, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Eyüp Debik has been named the rector of Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ), while Ahmet Alkan Çelik takes the helm at Doğuş University.

Türkiye opens first wildlife research institute

Former rector graduates from same university
For the first time in the history of the northern province of Samsun's Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), a former rector has graduated from the same university's law faculty.

‘Oldest carpet in world belongs to Turks’
The oldest carpet in the world, which was removed from a grave at the foot of the Altai Mountains in 1949, belongs to Turkish tribes, a study on the motifs and engravings on it has found.
İbrahim Tellioğlu, a historian from Ondokuz Mayıs University, said that the visuals, figures and motifs used on the carpet are a product of Turkish culture.

More than 2.2 million students across Turkey will enter the University Entrance Examination (YGS) on March 12, vying to secure a place in the country's top universities.
According to the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), some 2,265, 902 students will take the exam, up from the 2,178,563 who took the test last year.
