The Education Ministry has initiated an investigation into claims made by the local media that private schools are selling free textbooks provided by the ministry to recycling facilities.

Private schools prompt their students to use different sources instead of utilizing the textbooks provided for free by the Education Ministry, leading to the wastage of millions of textbooks each year.

As the new academic year approaches, the ministry has started sending textbooks for free to all schools across the country.

Deputies unanimously with 190 "in favor" adopted in the second reading a draft law on amendments and additions to the law on preschool and school education. The bill introduces free textbooks for students from grades 1 to 12.
