Two centenarians who died on consecutive days last week personify the American Century.

The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) issued a statement on Monday commenting on former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's controversial legacy and failure concerning the Cyprus issue. Kissinger passed away last week.

During his rich career, he also spoke a lot about the Western Balkans, judging that Kosovo and Metohija are a "national temple" for Serbs.
Kissinger thus questioned American policy in the Balkans, saying that "there is no clear definition of US interests in the Balkans".
"Europeans should deal with events in their own backyard," Kissinger said, the Guardian recalls.

The information that he died was announced by his company for geopolitical consulting Kissinger Associates Inc.
Kissinger died at his home in Connecticut, the company said, without providing further details.
He will be buried within his family circle, and a public memorial service will be held later in New York.

Henry Kissinger, US diplomat whose unapologetic promotion of raw American power helped shape the post-World War II world, died at the age of 100, Wednesday, his consulting firm has said. 

Chinese leader Xi Jinping met former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger in Beijing on Thursday, state media reported, describing the 100-year-old as a "legendary diplomat".
