A booby-trapped country

All of the most recent public opinion polls that have been conducted in Greece appear to support what analysts have been saying, that New Democracy will quite likely win the next general election, whenever it will be called. The most recent poll, conducted by the University of Macedonia, indicates that the lead New Democracy has over SYRIZA has grown further.

French Elections: Marcon victorious with 65%!

Centrist Emmanuel Macron has recorded a landslide victory against far-right populist opponent Marine Le Pen to become the President of the French Republic. Macron won 65% of the vote, according to the Ispos/Sopra Steria for French state TV estimate. The turnout at 5pm was estimated at 65.3% of the 47 million registered voters.

Turkish poll firm closes after referendum prediction failure

The head of the Eurasia Opinion Research Center (AKAM), Kemal Özkiraz, has announced that he will close his survey company following its failure to accurately predict the April 16 constitutional referendum results.

Before the vote, Özkiraz had said he would close the company if the "yes" side won, adding that his surveys indicated the "no" side would win 53 percent of the vote.

'No' votes ahead in Istanbul ahead of referendum: Main opposition CHP leader

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has quoted pollsters as saying that "no" votes in Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, are in the lead ahead of the April 16 referendum on whether to shift to an executive presidential system.

Facing the very real possibility of an election victory for France’s far-right Presidential hopeful Marine Le Pen, a number of leftists in France are threatening to move to Canada.

According to Yahoo.com, pollsters predict Le Pen will make it through the first round of voting on April 23rd due to the “unwavering support of about one in four voters.”

Countdown to the referendum

The countdown has started. Can the country go down a one-man rule - however it might be described - or will the nation, despite the massive and official pro-"Yes" campaign, say it will not succumb to it and agree on giving up parliamentary democracy despite all its deficiencies? Regardless of what is said by both sides, there is an increasing excitement and some degree of confusion.
