A 46-year-old American woman who moved to the northern province of Ordu following a trip to the Black Sea region nine years ago has expressed how she not only adapted to the Turkish culture but also realized her dream of learning the art of glass thanks to the municipality's vocational courses.

One person remains missing in the aftermath of disastrous floods that struck northern Türkiye on June 5 and claimed the lives of two individuals, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya has announced, noting that search and rescue works are underway.

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been fined 7,080 Turkish Liras ($950) for "insulting" the former governor of Ordu province during a visit in 2019.

Put on trial on the ground of insulting the then-governor of Ordu, Seddar Yavuz, İmamoğlu was sentenced to pay a fine of 20 liras ($2,67) per day for 354 days at the seventh hearing of the case.

The residents of two villages that sit side-by-side but are under different provincial governances in the Black Sea region don't know how exactly they will comply with the bans on entrances and exits to each other's provinces, both metropolitan municipalities.

"Otherwise, we cannot provide a sustainable solution for the matter of Syria," he said speaking at a rally in the Black Sea province of Ordu.

The cost of flash floods caused by heavy rains in the Black Sea province of Ordu is estimated to be at 165 million Turkish Liras ($27.1 million), Enver Yılmaz, the mayor of the city, said on Aug. 14.

Flash floods caused by heavy rains in the Black Sea province of Ordu claimed one person's life, according to officials.

Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall caused serious damage Wednesday in districts of the northern Turkish province of Ordu, affecting half million people, injuring dozens and leaving hundreds stranded, waiting to be rescued.

The floods and subsequent landslides affected rural areas in Fatsa, Ünye, Perşembe, Ikizce, Çaybaşı and Aybastı districts.
