Nearly 700 Turkish nationals evacuated over virus

Nearly 700 Turkish nationals were repatriated on May 16 from the United States and Kyrgyzstan as part of an initiative by Ankara over the coronavirus pandemic.

An exclusive Turkish Airlines flight with 354 Turks from the U.S. landed in the Black Sea province of Ordu. Separately, 330 Turks were evacuated from Kyrgyzstan and landed in metropolis Istanbul.

Turkey continues to evacuate nationals from abroad

As part of Turkey's efforts to evacuate its nationals from abroad amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, it brought back a
total of 622 nationals on April 29. 

From Iraq, 289 Turkish nationals were airlifted to Turkey's central city of Eskişehir.

Meanwhile, a total of 333 were flown in from Russia, arriving at the Ordu-Giresun Airport in northern Turkey.

Tens of hectars of woodland burned in four provinces due to garden cleaning

Six houses, tens of hectares of woodland and hazelnut orchards were damaged as a result of fires that erupted in 58 different spots in the Black Sea provinces of Trabzon, Ordu, Giresun and Artvin.

The fires were allegedly caused by dry grasses burned for cleaning of the gardens by residents.
