Inscriptions found on the walls of Çem Castle, located in the Sumbas district of the southern province of Osmaniye, has puzzled researchers who are attempting to decipher its language and alphabet.
Southern provinces record sharp rise in new virus cases
Turkey's southern provinces have recorded the sharpest increase in weekly COVID-19 cases, data given by a top senior official has shown.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca disclosed the weekly figures of COVID-19 cases throughout the country recorded between Nov. 20 and 26.
'Ephesus of Çukurova' being unearthed
The ruins of the ancient city of Kastabala, which dates back to the 5th century B.C. in the southern province of Osmaniye, are being unearthed through archaeological excavations. Many of its structures have survived to the present day and are called "The Ephesus of Çukurova."

Magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolts Osmaniye
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 was recorded in Turkey's southern Osmaniye province, the country's disaster agency reported early on July 26.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the quake occurred in Düziçi district seven kilometers (4.3 miles) below the surface.

Ancient mosaics discovered in Osmaniye
Ancient mosaics were discovered on Jan 7 in the southern province of Osmaniye's Kadirli district, which is known for its radish production. One of the mosaics depicts a radish, officials said, adding that they also found the first written document regarding Kadirli on the mosaics.
