Measles cases on wane, but authorities not resting easy just yet
A measles outbreak that has infected more than 3,200 people in Greece since May last year seems to be on the wane, as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has reported no new cases over the past week.
Greece among EU countries with highest measles rates
European officials said on Tuesday that the spike in the number of measles cases in Europe was due to epidemics in Romania, Italy, Germany and Greece.
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, more than 14,400 cases were reported by 30 countries last year - compared with about 4,600 cases the year before.

A total of four outbreaks of avian influenza have been found on the territory of the country - in the districts of Dobrich, Haskovo, Sliven and Yambol, the press agency of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency said.

Greece makes measles vaccination appeal amid European spike
Health authorities in Greece have issued a public appeal to participate in vaccination and booster shot programs following a spike in measles cases in the country amid an outbreak in Europe.
The Greek Center for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday that 166 cases had been reported in the country in 2016-17, with an increase in recent days.
Hungary Fears Measles Epidemic Coming From Romania
Hungarian health authorities have quarantined a hospital in Mako, southeast Hungary, after declaring a measles epidemic, and warned on Thursday that the virus might have come from over the border in Romania, where there has been an outbreak in recent months.

UN Medical Worker Dies of Ebola in Germany
A United Nations medical worker infected with Ebola virus while working in Liberia has died in a hospital in Germany.
German medical authorities said on Tuesday the man - a doctor from Sudan whose name has not been released - died overnight in St. Georg hospital in the city ofLeipzigdespite "intensive medical procedures".
