PM: Channels with Turkey must stay open
Responding to calls that his scheduled visit to Ankara on Monday should be postponed due to the conversion of the Chora monastery in Istanbul into a mosque, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed on Wednesday that this would not be the correct course of action as "open channels must be maintained."

Erdoğan inaugurates subway line to Istanbul Airport
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated a 34 kilometers-long subway line stretching from the city center to Istanbul Airport on Jan. 22.
The new line from the Kağıthane district of Istanbul to the airport has eight stations with 24 minutes of travel time.
Istanbul Opera Festival kicks off
The 13th International Istanbul Opera Festival will start with the "7 Tenor" concert at Haliç Congress Center Open Air Stage on July 16. The event will feature four major opera works and a concert to be staged by the Ankara, Istanbul and Antalya State Opera and Ballet Directorates until July 30. All works within the scope of the festival will be staged at 9 p.m.

Erdoğan inaugurates Çamlıca communications tower
Turkey's president inaugurated the state-of-the-art Çamlıca TV-Radio Tower in Istanbul on May 29.
Situated on a hill overlooking Turkey's largest city, the hi-tech communications tower will fulfill all broadcasting and transmission requirements in Istanbul.
It has the capacity to air 100 FM radio broadcasts at the same time- a first in the world.
