Saint Paisios: Queues of faithful in Souroti for the vigil 30 years after his passing
The monastery of St. John the Theologian located in Souroti of Thessaloniki, where the tomb of St. Paisios is located, has been flocking since yesterday as faithful as it marks 30 years since his death.
Several of the faithful have been at the monastery since last night as every year on July 11 and 12 the Assumption of St. Paisios is celebrated.

Ukraine was the most searched entry in Greek Wikipedia last year, exceeding 700,000 views, which is an all-time record, according to data published by the local Wikimedia Community User Group on its website on Monday.

The rushed canonization of Father Paisios may have helped his fans feel vindicated for idolizing a priest once known for his homely utterances but who in recent years became more famous for outrageous prophecies, including a devastating war between Russia and Turkey that will benefit Greece and allow it to retake Istanbul (Constantinople).

Thousands of believers gather at St. Paisios resting place (video)
Thousands of pilgrims from all around the world are converging on the site where Saint Paisios was laid to rest to pay homage and receive the grace of the Mount Athos monk, whose reputation has surpassed the Greek borders. The Saint of the Greek Orthodox Church was canonised in 2014, and many of his speeches and words have been recorded in dozens of books and audio clips posted online.
