Members of the United Services Trade Union Ver.di (Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft) and the railroad workers' union are on strike. The strike affected all intercity rail traffic, almost all city traffic as well as most airports. The strike also covers maritime traffic in Germany as well as highways.

PAME union announces protest rally ahead of TIF opening
Greek Communist-affiliated trade union PAME on Thursday announced a rally for September 7, ahead of the opening of Thessaloniki's annual International Fair (TIF).
The union accuses ruling New Democracy of implementing measures that undermine labor rights, following the "anti-labor legacy" of leftist SYRIZA.
The rally will be held on central Aristotelous square, at 6 p.m.
