Alexis Tsipras Promised to Cut Taxes on Food and Energy
VAT on food in Greece will be reduced from 24% to 13%, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said. The energy tax will also be halved, with 13% going to become 6, the Prime Minister promised.
Money for tax cuts will be taken from overcharging tax collection, which is 1.14 billion euros.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited a Greek school in New York’s Astoria district on Thursday and talked to the students, telling them that they have to be proud of Greece not just for its past but also for its present. Greece hopes to collect 2.5 bln euros from tax evaders
The strengthening of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE) will lead to Greece immediately collecting 2.5 billion euros from tax evaders, State Minister for Combating Corruption Panayiotis Nikoloudis said Tuesday.
