Turkey's health minister announced on March 13 another case of the coronavirus (COVID-19), only the second case seen in the country.

"He is from the immediate circle of our first patient, who was followed up as soon as the diagnosis was made," Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter.

The enemy dubbed coronavirus is extremely powerful as is evidenced by its rapid spread and its impact, particularly on the elderly.

Recently, the World Health Organization chairman Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has declared the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 for a pandemic.

"In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold, and the number of affected countries has tripled.  

New York postponed the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said, days after other events in US cities were canceled because of the global coronavirus pandemic, AFP reported.

With another 10 cases of Covid-19 infections confirmed in Greece on Wednesday, raising the total to 99, the Health Ministry announced that the National Health System (ESY) will be reinforced immediately with an additional 2,000 staff. 

"We are deeply concerned both by the alarming levels of spread and severity, and by the alarming levels of inaction", it is said in WHO statement.
The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on Wednesday as the new coronavirus has rapidly spread to more than 121.000 people from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the United States.

Turkey may see the first case of coronavirus at any moment but has enough experience to overcome the challenge, according to Professor Önder Ergönül, the chair of the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Koç University's School of Medicine.

Greece reported two new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to three, and said it would suspend all carnival celebrations in the country.

Asia reported hundreds of new coronavirus cases on Feb. 26, including the first U.S. soldier to be infected, as the United States warned of an inevitable pandemic, and outbreaks in Italy and Iran spread to more countries.
