Crete: 47-year-old woman arrested for domestic violence – Her husband asked for a panic button
A 47-year-old woman was arrested in Chania after her 49-year-old husband complained against her for acts that fall under the law on domestic violence.
For now it is unclear what exactly happened however the 49-year-old said he wants her prosecuted.
After the complaint, the 49-year-old installed the panic button on his cell phone.
Istanbul introduces ‘panic button’ in taxis
Due to an increase in attacks on taxi drivers, a "panic button" feature is being implemented in Istanbul as a new safety measure.
The project, initiated by the Istanbul Municipality has been tested comprehensively throughout June.
The initiative aims to enhance the safety of taxi drivers, who face significant risks on the job.

349 women use panic button in first two months of its operation
Of the 2,124 women who installed a panic button on their phones by May 31, 349 (16.5%) used it to alert police that they were in danger, Social Cohesion and Family Minister Sofia Zacharaki has said.
The digital application for cellphones to support women facing violence at home was introduced on March 23 and is available from 44 counseling centers throughout the country.

A digital application for cellphones to support women facing violence at home, called "Panic Button," was introduced in Athens and Thessaloniki on March 23.
The free app is downloaded on a smartphone and activates the service by pressing on a button which sends a text message (sms) to the operational center of the police. The app contains the needed information to locate the user.
Istanbul rolls out 'panic buttons' on public buses
The Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel Company (?ETT), the city's public bus authority, introduced buses with new "panic buttons" on Feb. 26.
Hasan Celikdelen, head of the IETT's IT department, said when a person presses one of the new panic buttons, it generates a signal received by the company's control center.

Panic button to protect Turkish women against domestic violence 'failed'
