Opposition to building heights bonus growing
Kifissia in northern Athens is the latest municipality to join the front against a bonus included in the building regulation which enables the construction of higher buildings.
In a unanimous decision on Thursday, Kifissia's municipal council requested the suspension of the issuance of new building permits making use of the bonuses.

Greece still in the grip of cold weather
Bad weather has a lot of Greece under its grip, with snowfall and below freezing temperatures.
In the Athens area, mostly in the northern parts, some roads are closed, police warn.
These include: the road to Mt. Parnitha, the Alimou-Katechaki road, Anapafseos Street, in the suburb of Papagou, beyond the cemetery and Fylis and Tatoiou Avenues, northwest of Athens.

Cold front sweeps through Greece, traffic disrupted in Attica
A cold front dubbed Leandros is hitting Greece with snow on Saturday, with power outages reported in the eastern part of Thessaloniki.
Regions as far south as Crete are expecting an onslaught heavy rain and strong winds that will last through Tuesday.

Police station attacked in Athens, journalist's car blown up
Ten hooded assailants attacked a police station in the eastern Athens suburb of Kaisariani in the early hours of Tuesday, pelting the building with homemade firebombs.
According to the Athens-Macedonia News Agency no one was injured in the pre-dawn attack, which took place at around 4 a.m.
Woman dies after falling down Papagou light shaft
Police in Athens on Tuesday were investigating the circumstances of the death of a 26-year-old woman who fell three floors down the light shaft of an apartment building in Papagou late on Monday night.
Police were alerted to the incident by the landlady, who reported hearing a strange noise from an apartment which she said was supposed to be vacant.

More mosquito spraying in northern Athens this week
The Attica Regional Authority on Monday begins the third round of spraying against mosquitoes in northern parts of the Greek capital, starting with the leafy suburbs of Papagou, Holargos, Aghia Paraskevi and Halandri, and ending on Friday with Filothei, Psychico, Kifissia and Pefki, among others.

Water cuts in Athens neighborhoods
Several districts of the Greek capital were without water supply since Wednesday morning, Athens's public water company EYDAP announced on its website.
According to the company, areas of Filothei, Papagou, Kallithea, Iraklio, Voula, Aspropyrgos, Kolonos and Akademia Platonos were affected by the disruption.
Water services will be restored at around 3 p.m, the company said.
