HPV is sexually transmitted

The provincial health bureau has rejected allegations regarding a university in a small northern province in Türkiye that hosts thousands of foreign students, as some Turkish students anonymously claim to have contracted viruses after sexual encounters with international counterparts.

Only a very small percentage of boys in Greece have received the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.

Despite the fact that this vaccine is one of the two for cancer prevention, less than one in 10 boys aged 9 and older have had it. And this is despite the fact that since April 2022 it has been included in the National Vaccination Program and is therefore administered free of charge.

In a lawsuit regarding the fee of the HPV vaccine, which has been campaigned to be free for a while as it provides essential protection against cervical cancer, a court has decided that the cost of the vaccine should be covered by the Social Security Institution (SGK), marking a landmark decision.

Greece to continue using the vaccine

The immunisation of the population with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will start in Romania on February 15, and to that end 180 new vaccination offices will open, according to the National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV).

The Ministry of Health organised a working seminar on Thursday, attended by Romanian and foreign specialists, patients, family doctors, to prepare an action plan to inform and educate the population regarding the vaccine against HPV, but also about vaccination in general, shows a press release sent AGERPRES.
