Another murder allegedly committed by convict released through controversial bill
Georgian national Roberto Sohakian, the suspect arrested immediately after the shooting death of a Thessaloniki jewelry shop owner this week, was recently released from prison under the so-called “Paraskevopoulos Law”, named after the SYRIZA justice minister whose signature graces the legislation.

Former Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) prime minister Alexis Tsipras has been in Thessaloniki since early Sunday morning ahead of a speech he is due to give at the 80th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair (TIF) in the evening. He was greeted at the Macedonian airport with limousines that transferred him and his associates to the TIF’s facilities.

Greek Supreme Court president Vassiliki Thanou is the first female prime minister of Greece, serving as a caretaker premier for what will be roughly a month in office.

Church to fight gay couple rights
The Holy Synod of the Church of Greece decided Friday to launch a campaign against the extension to same-sex couples of a so-called cohabitation agreement which grants heterosexual couples living together similar rights to those who are married.

Anti-establishment protesters barge into Golden Dawn trial
The resumption on Friday of the trial of Golden Dawn leaders and members at Korydallos Prison was marred by upheaval after anti-establishment protesters being escorted to an adjacent courtroom for a trial of alleged members of the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire guerrilla group burst into the premises of the GD trial.
