Volunteer firefighters seek support to protect Mount Parnitha from wildfires
The association of volunteer firefighters for the Attica region, EDASA, is putting together its team this summer for Mount Parnitha and has issued an invitation calling on the public to "give a little bit of their time to protect Attica's last lung."
Ηorses pushed from clifftop
Two horses were found dead at the bottom of cliffs in the Parnitha mountain range north of Athens.
On Saturday, the nonprofit Ippothesis Panhellenic Equine Welfare Society posted horrific images of the two horses found a few kilometers north of the municipality of Fyli by volunteers who feed stray animals in the area.

Greece still in the grip of cold weather
Bad weather has a lot of Greece under its grip, with snowfall and below freezing temperatures.
In the Athens area, mostly in the northern parts, some roads are closed, police warn.
These include: the road to Mt. Parnitha, the Alimou-Katechaki road, Anapafseos Street, in the suburb of Papagou, beyond the cemetery and Fylis and Tatoiou Avenues, northwest of Athens.

Council of State rules against Parnitha casino move to Maroussi
The Municipality of Halandri in northern Athens has hailed the ruling by the Council of State against the transfer of the Parnitha casino to the nearby suburb of Maroussi (at the Dilaveri estate) as a major victory.
