Greek tax authority enhances efforts against tax evasion with new digital app
Greece's Independent Authority for Public Revenue, known as AADE, is gearing up to intensify its efforts against tax evasion this summer with the introduction of a new digital tool called "ELEGXOSLive." The aim is to enhance tax compliance in Greek islands and other tourist areas.
SMEs can secure cheap credit
As of Thursday all small and medium-sized businesses have access to up to 75% cheaper loans compared to the average interest rate applying today, which is between 7% and 9%, through the three new funds launched by the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB), becoming available by all commercial banks.

University tuitions skyrocket, students in dire straits
Students who have had difficulty in paying the increased tuition fees at private universities now have been surprised by the new exorbitant increases announced for next academic year.
The increases in tuition fees of private universities exceeding 200 percent have been drawing the reaction of students since the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Teachers to finally get lump sums
The payment of retirement lump sums to some 7,500 teachers who received their main pension in the previous period started on Friday and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

Romanians Hosting Ukrainian Refugees Complain of Delay in Payments
Romanians hosting Ukrainian refugees say they did not receive any promised financial subsidies from the government in the last two months, in January and February.
According to official statistics, around 73,000 Ukrainian refugees are currently sheltering in Romania following the Russian invasion of Ukraine starting on February 24, 2022.

The government expects to collect up to almost a billion euros this year from fines, penalties and other charges that have already been imposed or will be on businesses and individuals.

Parents want private schools’ fee hike to be audited
As some private schools exceed the 65 percent ceiling fee increase rate determined by the Education Ministry for the new year or go for exorbitant price increases for additional services such as meals and books, parents demand schools to be audited.

Ljubljana – Responding the government’s recent decision to subsidise large companies due to rising energy prices, environmental NGOs Umanotera and Focus said on Monday that subsidies for large industrial consumers of energy are socially inequitable and “make a mockery of climate efforts”.
