Bulgaria holds the lowest position among European Union countries when it comes to recycling old computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones, as per Eurostat's 2022 survey. The data focuses on the final actions taken with these devices when no longer in use.
Back-to-school shopping boosts computer sales
Back-to-school shopping spree is giving a strong boost to personal computer sales that recently slowed after seeing a spike during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some 2.2 million computers are expected to be sold on the local market this year, according to people from the sector. Last year, sales also stood at 2.2 million units.

Children battling cancer boost their spirits in hospital’s playrooms
Volunteers from the Hope Foundation for Children with Cancer (KAÇUV) have been working to cheer up children battling cancer at an Istanbul hospital.
KAÇUV volunteers have prepared a room of the hospital as a "playroom" for the children. In the room, they play games and spend time with fun activities.
The Copy-Paste Inventor Died
The American computer scientist Larry Tesler died on February 17 at the age of 74, The Portal reported. He is known as the inventor of functions copy and paste in computer interfaces.
Born in New York in 1945, he studied computer science at Stanford University in the 1960s. In 1980 he started working for the company, where he remained until 1997.

Silicon Valley inventor of 'cut, copy and paste' dies
Silicon Valley on Feb. 19 was mourning a pioneering computer scientist whose accomplishments included inventing the widely relied on "cut, copy and paste" command.
Bronx-born Lawrence "Larry" Tesler died this week at age 74, according to Xerox, where he spent part of his career.
Global PC market ranking (infographic)
The global PC market continues to slump. According to market research firm Gartner, worldwide PC shipments totaled 61.1 million in the second quarter of 2017, the lowest quarterly total since 2007. Gartner blames higher prices caused by component shortages for the lackluster demand in the past three months.

Bulgarian PC Company Pravetz to Release First Smartphone Next Week
The Bulgarian PC company Pravetz is expanding the range of its products and will release its first smartphone Pravetz 4+ next week.
The mobile phone is made in Taiwan, weighs a hundred grammes and will cost BGN 169.
It has 4.7 inch HD IPS screen, four core Qualcomm 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM.
