Philopappou muggers linked to more robberies

The three men who were arrested last month over the death of a 25-year-old student who fell off a cliff on the capital's Philopappou Hill during an attempted mugging last month have been linked to another three robberies, a statement from Athens Police Headquarters (GADA) said on Thursday.

The three - two Pakistani nationals and an Iraqi - have been charged with manslaughter.

The public wants answers

The Greek Police (ELAS) has proven itself capable on numerous occasions of solving even the most complicated of crimes. This was more than evident in the swift arrest of the suspects accused of causing the death of a young student on central Athens's Philopappou Hill last month while trying to mug him, an incident that shocked public opinion.

Limited liability

Any letter written by a mother who lost her 25-year-old child in such a sudden and shocking manner would inevitably be emotional and angry. However, the open letter sent last week to the Greek prime minister and the mayor of Athens by the mother of the young man who died after falling off a cliff onto rocks on Philopappou Hill during a mugging is also a valuable testament.
