From today - 20 May, a European Union regulation which establishes a traceability system for each box of cigarettes enters into force.
Each box of cigarettes manufactured or imported in Bulgaria must have a unique code which will allow its tracing to follow from the production to the customer.

British American Tobacco (BAT) Turkey has become the sector leader, generating $197.3 million in exports of tobacco and tobacco products in 2018, the company said in a press release.

Four Greek companies heading to Green Week Berlin
Four Greek companies will participate in the 84th International Green Week Berlin food and drink fair that opens in the German capital on Friday and concludes on January 27: They are Armakadi, Bioagros SA, Goji Spirit and Tsakalakis Cretan Products and will participate in the Greek stand put together by KLNi Promotion, a member of the German-Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

SEKAP plant starts making JTI tobacco products
SEKAP announced on Thursday that production of the products of new owner Japan Tobacco International (JTI) has started, just two-and-a-half months after the Greek tobacco company's takeover.
JTI has upgraded the SEKAP factory at Xanthi in Thrace, which has begun producing Camel and Winston Giga buckets destined for daily export to European Union member-states.

Japan Tobacco confirms SEKAP will continue to operate
The operation of Greek tobacco company SEKAP will continue following the definitive agreement for the acquisition of parent company Donskoy Tabak by Japan Tobacco International (JTI).
Savvidis sells Donskoy Tabak and Greek subsidiary to Japan Tobacco
Japan Tobacco has acquired Donskoy Tabac (DT), owned by Greek-Russian business tycoon Ivan Savvidis, for $1.6 billion it emerged on Friday, with the Greek Tobacco Industry of Xanthi (SEKAP), a subsidiary of DT, being part of the deal.
SEKAP was established in 1975 and acquired by DT in 2013. It came under Savvidis's ownership in July of that year.
